Chapter Two: Vicki's Equine Start

Vicki Brown on Milltown PtarmiganVicki rode at the local riding school until her ear bashed parents relented and bought a pony when she was 12, although an active member of the Beaufort Pony Club going to camps and rallies. Vicki did not compete until she had left school and started training at Maperton Stud with Major Gordon Watson BHSI in  Somerset.

After  a year in Somerset  and sitting her BHS stages Vicki moved  to Cambridge and worked for a season as a Hunt groom for Mr Edmond Vesty MFH at Horseheath, Then the following summer took up a training placement with the well regarded horse vet Jim Kerr MRCVS of Tetbury Wiltshire as his assistant/groom where she got real hands on experience assisting him on his daily rounds.

This was followed by a seasonal job as a Stud hand  at Ravensroyd Stud Bingley.
