Chapter Seven: Northallerton Equestrian Centre
Ian then took on the role of Manager to Northallerton Equestrian Centre in early 2001.
He worked hard and to improve the centre and the many long hours/weeks and years were rewarded by a turn around in the establishment. Northallerton EC quickly became popular as a competition venue as competitors were drawn to the centre by amongst other things Ian`s ability to build and design excellent show jumping and cross country tracks.
Ian became a BSJA assistant course builder and later up graded to an associate course builder. In 2003 with the help of Janet Bentley as event secretary and a small band of “volunteers” Ian organised the first Northallerton Affiliated BE Horse trails. The reputation and facilities improved greatly over the years, but running an establishment like Northallerton EC is physically and mentally hard work so in 2007 after a change of personal Ian decided to go back to his first love of Teaching.
