Chapter Five: Newstead and the Twins

With a friend and fellow Instructor Hilary Hindmarsh Ian had started running unaffiliated show jumping at Newstead Riding Centre Darlington these proved very popular and it was from this connection that Ian got offered a job at Newstead running the riding school and working with the charity Rathbone which helped disadvantaged young people by training them to work with horses.

Meanwhile Ian and Vicki were still living at Manor Park so Vicki kept the yard going but scaled down to a few liveries with the odd horse in to sell as well as her own event horse. It was at this time that Vicki first competed at BE intermediate level and achieved an personal ambition when placed 10th at the Withcote 2 day event.

In 1996 Vicki gave birth to twin daughters Holly and Chloe and such was the surprise amongst the local horse world ( Ian and Vicki had been married 14yrs) the twins were given a ¼ page editorial by the Darlington and Stockton Newspaper!
